The Original Art of Jim Jenkins

The Creative Process

About the Art

Each Bognoggin is created by hand in the Artists Studio. There are no molds or mass production used in the creation of these pieces. No two are ever exactly alike.

"The process is pretty organic. I start with a base color and start moving the clay till I catch an interesting shape," says James. "After I create the base shape for a Bognoggin I add teeth, eyes, hair, and anything else I feel will give the Bognoggin it's unique personality."

"I love making these little guys because each one is an adventure. I never know exactly what he will look like when I start."

Style and Influence

"My style has come about from hours working with clay." "I've worked hard to capture true emotion and expression in the charactrers."

My influences would be the likes of Jim Henson, George Lucas, and Tim Burton. I am a visual person and have always loved the interesting stories and characters these artists portrayed.

I am fascinated by Picasso's paintings and have always been attracted to Art that is a little "out there". Something that requires a little imagination.

Material

The Bognogginz are created using a blend of different polymer clays.
