James Jenkins was born in Ancon, Canal Zone (Panama) on June 1st, 1968. As a child his family traveled extensively before moving to El Paso, TX when he was 17.

“I started sculpting at a young age. I think it was sixth grade in Berlin Germany when I first discovered I had a knack for creating things out of clay. My first piece was a great white shark. The school probably still has it or it has been thrown away a long time ago”

After a two year stay in El Paso James joined the Army as a radar technician and went to Europe. In 1991 after a short stoploss at the conclusion of the Persian Gulf War Jim received an honorable discharge from the Army.

He earned an Associate of Arts degree in broadcasting at Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner Massachusetts and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management from the University of Phoenix.

“What I’ve tried to do with my art is capture expression and emotion in my characters. If I can make somebody stop for 30 seconds and hopefully smile I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.”
